City by the sea

Zadar: old town, Sea Organ and sunset

Zadar is the nearest larger city on the coast, about 50 minutes from Velebit Lodge via the A1 motorway and the Sveti Rok tunnel. The old town sits on a peninsula and is easy to explore on foot.

On the waterfront the Sea Organ (Morske orgulje) plays with the waves, and right next to it the Greeting to the Sun (Pozdrav Suncu) lights up at dusk. In the heart of the old town stand the Roman Forum, the 9th-century Church of St Donatus and St Anastasia's Cathedral with its bell tower.

Zadar Airport is 68 km from the lodge – many guests combine their arrival or departure with an evening in town.
